Pro-Am Events: Is an event where a Professional angler is paired with an Amateur angler. An amateur angler should know the basics of bass fishing, like tying a knot and having fair casting skills but is not expected to find fish. Pro-Ams are encouraged to teach the beginner angler and bring them up through the ranks, a great experience for beginner and intermediate anglers .Some events are shared weight where the Pro and Am’s weight count as one, others are not shared.

Team Events: Sometimes called buddy tournaments, this is an event where you sign up and fish with a friend. You and you friend together compete against the rest of the field. Some experience is recommend for at least one of the team members, for good boat control and locating fish. Team fishing is a great way to start fishing tournaments, as it can be as relaxed or competitive as you make it and you get to do it with a friend.

Amateur or Rookie Teams: This is a team event geared toward the less experienced angler and will have limitations on who can enter. Limitation placed on entries are based on the angler experience and or status, say an angler won $5000.00 last year fishing he would most likely not be able to enter as a Rookie. Each circuit has their own rules be sure to review then prior to entering. These are great events for those who don’t want to or are not quite ready to compete with some of the big guns.
